The chart above shows the number of motor vehicles in EU and US regions by mile of roads.  With the exception of the Northeastern US and the Northern EU, the EU regions have a higher vehicle to road length ratio than the US regions do which is a very different result from the vehicles to residents ratio.

The chart above shows the number of motor vehicles in EU regions by kilometer of roads.  The Southern EU and the Western EU have the most vehicles per kilometer of roadway just as they have the highest vehicle to resident ratio.

The chart above shows the number of motor vehicles in US regions by mile of roads.  Although the Northeast has the lowest rate of vehicles per residents and the Midwest the highest, in this metric the results are reversed.

The chart above shows the number of motor vehicles in EU and US states by mile of roads.  Some of the smallest states have the highest ratio of vehicles to roads but in the EU, small states also have some of the lowest ratios of vehicles to roads.

The chart above shows the number of motor vehicles in EU states by kilometer of roads.  Luxembourg and Malta are the only two states with over 100 vehicles per kilometer of road.

The chart above shows the number of motor vehicles in US states by mile of roads.  Hawaii has the most vehicles by far per mile of road than any other state and assuming that each of the vehicles were a mid-sized passenger car (about 15 feet in length) and placed front to end in a line the state has eight-tenths of a mile of vehicles for every mile of road.

The chart above shows the rate of motor vehicle ownership in EU and US regions.  No surprise here, every single American region has a higher vehicle ownership rate than any European region.

The chart above shows the rate of motor vehicle ownership in EU regions.  The Southern EU has the highest motor vehicle ownership rate but there isn't that big of a difference between the regions of the Union.

The chart above shows the rate of motor vehicle ownership in US regions.  Aside from the Northeast, there isn't much difference in vehicular registration rates between US regions.
