The Midwest and the South had the lowest rate last month and the Midwest had the lowest rate last year. The Northeast had the highest rate last month and the West had the highest rate last year.
- The Northeast has 1.38 times the unemployment rate that the South does (up from 1.35 last month and up from 1.29 last year).

In absolute terms, the South had the best performance over the previous month dropping its rate 0.20 percentage points. The Midwest had the worst performance dropping its rate 0.11 percentage points. Year over year, the West had the best performance dropping its rate 2.80 percentage points. The Northeast had the worst performance dropping its rate 1.96 percentage points.
In relative terms, the South had the best performance over the previous month dropping its rate 4.18%. The Midwest had the worst performance dropping its rate 2.30%. Year over year, the South had the best performance with a 35.35% drop in its rate. The Northeast had the worst performance with a 23.67% drop in its rate.
The Northeast has an unemployment rate higher than 42 out of 50 states. The South has an unemployment rate that is lower than more than half of the states in the country besting 26 out of 50 states.
The South has the smallest range in unemployment rates this month with a low of 3.0% in Oklahoma to a high of 5.8% in Louisiana and Mississippi. The West has the greatest range with a low of 2.4% in Utah to a high of 7.5% in California and Nevada.
